As many good things do, this adventure all began over a drink. A guy and a girl talking service, quality and price – where can we find these in today’s world? What has happened to the ethic of building customer relations? Earning trust? And so the discussion developed.

As the evening progressed, the answers became clearer – let’s do this ourselves, let’s build a company that has the values we believe in and that seem so hard to find in our world. Let’s find customers who want to build mutually beneficial relationships, let’s give them the best service, quality and value we possibly can. Let’s create a business where we can go to bed knowing we have done all possible to service our customer’s needs.

We were talking shoes, of course. And then more! With 55 years of experience in shoes, manufacturing and sourcing between us, this was the obvious route to take. And so the adventure began in 2012 and what a ride it is proving to be. Let’s tell you the story so far…

Our roots began in fashion, and we have been fortunate to develop fantastic relations with some key customers, as we have proposed, sourced and supplied thousands of pairs of shoes in to our retail market. Our service, quality and attention to detail, has enabled us to become regular suppliers to our key customers. But then a strange thing happened, we were asked to source safety shoes. Our customers looked for the values listed above. And so the next seeds were sown, the roots have taken hold and in July 2015 we launched our own branded Industrial Division, In Step – Quality Safety Wear, supplying high quality safety shoes to the Western Cape market.

Our values have led to further enquiries because our customers have come to understand and appreciate these values. We have been fortunate enough to get enquiries for other products in our Industrial division and are currently in the process of sourcing and developing a host of new products.
